Gretton pupils raise money for Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal with coffee and cake morning
Well done to all involved
Children from Gretton Primary Academy, which is part of Brooke Weston Trust, hosted a fundraising ‘coffee and cake’ morning for their family members and friends of the school.
The event was hosted by children in Year 6 earlier this month in aid of the Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal and raised a fantastic £642, which will go directly to those affected, via the charity British Red Cross.
The event, which was the brainchild of Assistant Principal Mrs Block, had an impressive turnout from the families and friends of the school, which has 141 pupils. Year 6 pupils embraced the opportunity to volunteer their services by running the event - helping to serve the guests, collecting donations and even clearing up afterwards!
Julia Dickinson, Principal of the school said: “Our priority at Gretton Primary is to prepare children to become outstanding future citizens with a strong moral compass. The devastating impact of last month’s earthquakes in Turkey and Syria has moved us all to raise funds for those affected. I’m incredibly proud of the children, who are starting to develop a broader sense of social responsibility and empathy for others, for taking the initiative with this event and we are extremely grateful to all who attended for their huge generosity.”
