Pupils in Maple class recently took part in a Greek day to celebrate the end of the topic, which they have been learning about.

The children came to school in fancy dress and took part in a variety of themed activities.

They held their own Olympics, which consisted of sports such as sprinting, javelin and discus and made Olympic torches and team banners. The children were surprised to find out that women were not allowed to compete and had a debate about it.

Throughout the day, the children also painted vases, made mosaics and created masks of Zeus the god of the sky and ruler of the Olympian gods.

Pupils were pleased when it was time to try some of the cuisine, which included tomatoes, feta cheese, hummus, olives and zucchini. Charlie said: I really liked some of the food but some of it wasn’t very nice.‘

Ellie said: ‘I really enjoyed the day, it was lots of fun.’
